'Til I Crumble Into Dust

[Verse 1]
Riding the canyon of a wasteland,
Alone on my Palomino steed.
Dust at the corner of my eyes,
The image of a woman is all that I see.

[Verse 2]
In my days as a ruffian-to-be,
Off on a young man's crusade.
Met fate behind a nearby farm house,
A woman complete, her name was Jade.

[Chorus]
And the sun lays low (and the sun lays low).
Leaving me all alone (all alone),
Hunting a long shadow.
'til my spurs turn to rust,
'til I crumble into dust.

[Verse 3]
Water splashed her shoulders,
Spilling to the searing ground.
My thirst spurred and sputtered,
I shook, my mouth made no sound.

[Verse 4]
Run run along, boy, she laughed,
I know you surely seen plenty.

And remember it forever real good
'cause it means you're never gonna be free.

[Chorus]
And the sun lays low (and the sun lays low).
Leaving me all alone (all alone),
Hunting a dark shadow.
'til my spurs turn to rust,
'til I crumble into dust.

[Bridge]
Like a kind of peculiar invitation, the wasteland beckoned my eternal fate.
After years on the trail a tale was told, that a savage man had taken my Jade.

[Chorus]
And the sun lays low (and the sun lays low).
Leaving me all alone (all alone),
Hunting a black shadow.
'til my spurs turn to rust,
'til I crumble into dust.

[Verse 5]
Holy man once offered me wisdom,
Be fearful of life if little ever changes,
Father, now accept some in return,
Comfort in life when little ever changes.

[Verse 6]
Small wood cross marks the grave,
Of dear Jade, a woman in totality.
Don't shed a tear, steel to the pain,
Beware savage man, I hold no pity.

[Chorus]
And the sun lays low (and the sun lays low).
Leaving me all alone (all alone),
Hunting the devil's shadow.
'til my spurs turn to rust,
'til I crumble into dust.

[Verse 7 - spoken]
Chalky moutain outlines,
Dust cloud horizon,
Fiery sun high in a hazy-blue sky.
Still, nothingness.
A memory of Jade my only companion.
'til my spurs turn to rust,
'til I crumble into dust.
